A Weekend Full of Theater

Last week was pretty uneventful, but I was happy to have the weekend packed with my favorite thing: theater.

On Friday Jon and I went to see Romeo and Juliet at freeFall Theater. I was covering it for my Articulate blog. It’s funny…as popular as this play is I can’t recall ever seeing it before. It’s also funny because everyone says that Romeo and Juliet is so overdone but I never see any theaters doing it.

Anywho the show was fantastic. I think it’s virtually impossible for freeFall to put on a mediocre show. The actors were great. I espicially loved the girl who played Juliet. She’s definitely one of those people who was born to play that part. The set was particularly interesting too. I loved the detail and use of space. More info to come on my Articulate blog ๐Ÿ˜Š

Before the show we grabbed dinner at Engine no 9, which is a new spot in St. Pete. We had stopped in there for drinks the weekend before, had looked at the menu and vowed to come back to try the food.

One of the best burgers I’ve had. They’re running on a limited menu right now and most of it is unique burgers with all sorts of toppings. I had the One Bad Pig that was topped with roast pork, fried prosciutto, grilled onions and cheese. Sweet potato fries on the side. Also had some of Jon’s tater tots ๐Ÿ˜ŠDelish!

Saturday we started the day at the Saturday morning market which we hadn’t been to in forever. Even at the start of it at 9 am it was bustling! I sipped on a pumpkin chai tea latte while we walked around. We snacked on a spinach cheese tart, beef empanada and a knish.

Later that night I went to go see Legally Blonde at my alma mater, Eckerd College. It was a girls night with my mom and friends Lora and Ashley.

I’ve seen a few Eckerd shows since I graduated and they’ve all been very good. Legally Blonde was very cute and funny. There were a few actors that stood out and really made the show. Very impressed with the singing, choreography and set design!

Looking forward to the next few days as we’ll be in Sanibel! Expect an update when we get back.

Oh and this was the first time I used my WordPress app to update the blog so I apologize for choppy sentences, grammar and spelling mistakes ๐Ÿ˜Š
