Missing Fall

Is it really October already?? I know everyone always says that every month, but seriously, where does the time go?

When you live in a state like Florida, it’s easy to forget what month it is. I grew up in Connecticut, where there was a definite Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter. In Florida there’s Kinda Hot, Hot, Really Hot and How Could It Possibly Get Hotter??

Of course in the few years I’ve lived here there have been some rather cool falls and winters, which I’m hoping for this year!

When I first moved to Florida I loved being able to wear shorts and tank tops year round and all of the continuously sunny days. But the more I live here the more I find myself missing Fall and Winter. Ok, maybe just Fall. Sorry, but snow and below 0 temps and I really don’t get along.

Here’s some Fall things that I’ve been missing:

Changing of the leaves. It really is breathtaking driving down a street lined with yellow, red and orange leaves rustling the breeze.

Bonfires. Not that I ever went to many, but there’s very few times in FL when it’s cool enough to light a fire.

Hot cider and hot cocoa. It’s just not the same without a brisk fall breeze.

Pumpkin patches.

Hay rides.

Sweaters and sweatshirts. There’s something about bundling up in an old sweatshirt that is comforting to me.

Jeans. I’m a jeans and t-shirt kinda gal and last year I only wore them a few times.

Fall colors. In terms of clothing, fall colors (even though they’re sold here in FL too) just don’t look/feel the same in the FL scenery. I love my bright colors, but still yearn to wear maroon, forest green and brown every now and then.

Do you live in an area where it seems like there’s only one season? For people who live in a place with seasons, what’s your favorite?
